Anno: Mutationem Bitsummit Gaiden 2020 Gameplay Livestream

Anno: Mutationem

Developer ThinkingStars has shown off new gameplay for action-RPG Anno: Mutationem during Bitsummit Gaiden 2020.

The game is a 2.5D action-RPG using pixel-art and a cyberpunk setting. The game also utilizes monsters from SCP Foundation. It is an open-source collaborative-fiction project, where users can submit short descriptions on the horrifying monsters the organization attempt to study, capture, and contain.

While the livestream lasted two hours, it should be noted the developers replay the demo numerous times over, going to different locations and showing different aspects of the game.

You can find the livestream playback below.

It should also be noted the game is part of the China Hero Project, an initiative by PlayStation to support indie developers in China. Some suspected that the involvement of Chinese tech giant Tencent caused the censorship of anime-style sexual content in games on PlayStation 4.

Our own research failed to find definitive proof. In addition, certain scenes from Anno: Mutationem during the livestream were a little racy [1, 2, 3], creating yet more questions. A screenshot of the game (via PlayStation) also appears to depict what could be a red-light district.

You can find the full rundown (via PlayStation) below.
