Against all odds, the Kickstarter campaign for Harmonix’s ambitious reboot of Amplitude, their classic and addicting music/rhythm game, has been funded.

Many fans were skeptical with funding the game because Harmonix is a well known developer, however they are independent, and they tend to work from contract to contract. A passion project like an Amplitude reboot would be completely self funded, and as such they need the extra push.

The game stalled a bit through the middle of its campaign lifecycle, and within the last three days or so it gained massive support and earned tens of thousands of dollars within hours. Seeing so many fans come together and support the game’s revival has been nothing short of exemplary.

The team at Harmonix also did an all day live stream via their official Twitch channel where they played live music, whipped out the old boob tube and played the original Amplitude, amongst other shenanigans – the entire thing has been quite a wild ride.
