Frictional Games have confirmed the release date for SOMA, their upcoming spiritual successor to the Amnesia series.
The sci-fi, first person horror game is launching on both PlayStation 4 and PC on September 22nd. To coincide with the release date announcement, the developer shared a whopping 12-minute gameplay video, which you can view above.
In SOMA, players will play as a protagonist that has a backstory – however, he is unsure of what kind of situation he has gotten himself into. The game is set on a remote research facility, where machines are becoming more human-like, and weird things are happening.
In order to escape, the protagonist has to do something “unimaginable.” It’s worth mentioning the above video is roughly one hour into the game, and there are lots of things to interact with in each area – you’re only seeing a selection in the provided gameplay.
