American McGee's Alice is getting a TV show

A new report is making the rounds that American McGee’s Alice is getting a TV show, bringing the dark reimagining of the classic series to a new audience.

The new report that American McGee’s Alice is getting a TV show comes via The Hollywood Reporter, which also confirms David Hayter will be attached to the new TV series as well.

Hayter will reportedly be the showrunner on the new TV series as he previously wrote the original X-Men movie screenplay, as well as X2 and Watchmen – however he’s mostly known to video game fans as the voice of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid.

For those unfamiliar with it, American McGee’s Alice is a dark and violent adaptation on Lewis Carroll’s original novels, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and acts as a sequel of sorts where Alice becomes a bloodthirsty murderer.

American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns game series is a groundbreaking reimagining of the classic tale. It takes you into the heart of a corrupted Wonderland and throws light into shadowy corners the world has never seen. I am beyond excited to bring this world of madness and wonder to a global audience,” Hayter said in a statement.

“David Hayter brings imagination, experience, and stealth sneaking skills gained through successful missions in film, TV, and video games – a unique combination sure to make this adventure into Wonderland a successful one for the franchise and the fans,” McGee said in a statement. “I am excited to be working with him and know the Alice fans will welcome him with mad affection.”

McGee has been trying to get Electronic Arts (who own the IP to the video game adaptations he developed) to greenlight a third Alice game, which is tentatively named Alice: Asylum and would be the third and final game in the series.
