• Amazon Now Working on New Lord of the Rings MMO With Athlon Games

    Amazon has confirmed they’re working on the previously announced Lord of the Rings MMORPG that Athlon Games has been developing.

    While the MMO was announced nearly a year ago, at the time Athlon could only say they were working with an unnamed “partner developer.” While Athlon Games is owned by Leyou Technology, Amazon’s own Amazon Game Studios will be developing the AAA-level MMO for both Windows PC and consoles.

    Details are still scant, however we do know the MMO is entirely separate from Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings television series, which is reportedly set to take place before The Fellowship of the Ring. The game is reportedly set “at a time long before the events of The Lord of the Rings, exploring lands, people and creatures never seen before by fans of the Tolkien universe.”
