Amazon has continued their waves of layoffs as the tech sector continues to get hit with mass layoffs including other tech giants such as Microsoft and Meta.

This new set to layoffs for Amazon will affect 9,000 employees and to date will end up totaling 27,000 jobs cut over the past several months. 400 of these lost jobs also include those working for the livestreaming service, Twitch, which Amazon owns.

In a public letter sent to employees, CEO Dan Clancy, who recently took the mantle after previous CEO Emmet Shear stepped down earlier this month, confirmed the news:

“Today I shared with Twitch employees that we’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of our workforce, which results in us having to say goodbye to just over 400 people,” Clancy said. “Like many companies, our business has been impacted by the current macroeconomic environment, and user and revenue growth has not kept pace with our expectations”.

This announcement shouldn’t have any impact of those who make a living livestreaming through the service.
