Alone in the Dark remake leaked ahead of THQ Nordic 2022 Showcase

Alone in the Dark remake

It appears that just hours before the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase today, one of their titles that would have been announced has been accidently leaked by Belgian retailer, Smartoys.

The title seems to be a remake, well another remake of the 1992 classic Alone in the Dark. While the listing was proof of the game’s existence, we have since gotten more information from industry insider, AestheticGamer, who posted screenshots and more information on Twitter.

It appears that the new Alone in the Dark will be following the format of the Resident Evil 2: Remake. Shifting towards an over-the-shoulder third person camera. We also know that the game will be written by Mikael Hedberg, who wrote both SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

Here is what was written on the Smartoys official listing:

“This love letter to the cult ’90s game will take you through a story that’s as sinister as it is memorable through the eyes of one of the two protagonists,” it reads.

“Playing as Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the various environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles and discover the terrible truth about the mansion of Derceto.

“In the deep south of the United States during the years 1920, Emily Hartwood’s uncle disappears. Accompanied by the private detective Edward Carnby, she goes looking for him in the manor of Derceto, a mental asylum where something is lurking.

“You will encounter strange occupants, nightmarish kingdoms, dangerous monsters, and uncover an evil conspiracy. At the confluence of reality, mystery and madness, the adventure that awaits you risks undermining your certainties. Who are you going to trust, what are you going to believe, and what are you going to do next?”

The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase will be taking place in just a few short hours at 12pm PST/3pm EST, and the game was likely to be one of the big reveals there.

We look forward to seeing the official reveal later today.
