AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative

Spike Chunsoft have announced mystery VN AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative, after a countdown teaser concluded.

The teaser website had featured a countdown, along with several riddles to unlock the password; spelling Nirvana Initiative. Now, the game has been fully revealed.

A sequel to AI: The Somnium Files, Mizuki Okiura is now a Special Agent; most likely of the Advanced Brain Investigation Squad, or ABIS. The group utilize the advanced technology of the Psync Machine to enter a person’s subconscious mind, in order to gather clues they cannot remember or will not divulge, in order to solve terrible crimes.

This often result in twisted and bizarre versions of reality, reflecting the surreal nature of dreams and the trauma therein. This in turn demands similarly strange logic to solve the puzzles, and doing what they can to extend the six minute time limit. However, every action costs a different amount of time to execute as well, in an ever-shifting dream.

The first game combined this “psyching” with real world investigation, quick time events for the more dangerous moments, and branching storylines that could be hopped around to get the full picture of the case. This time, the case is focused around the “Half Body serial killings.”

The right half of a body has been discovered, the other half to one from six years ago. However, the new half has no signs of decay or rot, what should be impossible. Now, Mizuki and AI partner Aiba are on the case.

You can find the announcement trailer below.
