Microsoft Studios and Skybox Lab Games have finally given us a taste of the Extended Edition for Age of Mythology, a game they teased roughly a month ago in a Twitch TV stream. Featured above, you can see the glorious debut trailer for this high definition port for Age of Mythology, which is also confirmed to be coming to Steam Early Access very soon, as well as in a complete form next month, in May.
I’m going to sound old saying this but if you weren’t around when the game came out over a decade ago (yes it’s been that long), you truly missed one of the greatest real time strategy games ever made. In its original form, Age of Mythology was a pinnacle of the genre and a masterwork by Ensemble Studios, a veteran of the genre who unfortunately shut down after they developed a Halo Wars spin-off years later.
Here’s a full list of the confirmed improvements so far:
- Improved Visuals
-
- Time of Day
- Improved water
- Shadows
- Bump / Specular maps
- Global Lighting
- Antialiasing & Ambient Occlusion
-
- Full Steamworks Integration
-
- Workshop mod manager
- Multiplayer
- Achievements
- Trading Cards
- Leagues / Badges / Events
- Cloud saves
-
- Extended Features
-
- Twitch Integration
- Treaty Mode
- Enhanced Observer mode
-
Lastly, the game is definitely coming with the Age of Titans expansion that saw the playable Atlantean race and the Golden Gift campaign, all of which add a breadth of content on top of the already robust original game.
-UPDATE-
