Adobe have begun deactivating accounts of users based in Venezuela, in order to comply with U.S. sanctions.

Executive Order 13384 was issued on August 5th 2019. The order stated:

“All property and interests in property of the Government of Venezuela that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in.”

As stated on Adobe’s website (translation via Alex Medina), Venezuelan subscription to Adobe’s services are now being cancelled.

“The U.S. Government issued Executive Order 13884, the practical effect of which is to prohibit almost all transactions and services between U.S. companies, entities, and individuals in Venezuela. To remain compliant with this order, Adobe is deactivating all accounts in Venezuela.”

Adobe also states there is no expiration on the order, meaning whether it is rescinded would have to be a decision by the U.S. government in the future.

Adobe began charging a subscription for many of their services back in 2011 via the Adobe Creative Cloud. Later the service became the only way to get the latest versions of software.
