Remember Adam Orth, the infamous talking head who started a huge kerfuffle with his comments about online connectivity and the Xbox one? Well, he’s been quietly pounding away at a new game called “Adr1ft”, and whether you like him or not, it isn’t looking too bad.
Recently picked up by British publisher 505 Games, Adr1ft is a next-gen space exploration game using Epic’s brand new Unreal Engine 4 and the recently-bought-by-facebook Occulus Rift device. Starting out as an amnesiac space traveler who is adrift (hence the name) in space, you have to work your way up from nothing in true sandbox game style and gather resources to survive. Early reports from E3 indicate the game has some real meat to it and many have walked away impressed, it seems.
Amusingly enough, Orth said the experience he went through during his “twitter war” inspired him to create Adr1ft. In an interview, he said, and I quote: “It’s really a journey through action, consequence, and redemption, It’s about the consequences of your actions and how you handle the fallout. It’s about metaphorically trying to express what happened in my real life.”
Details are of course a bit scant at this stage, but if you’re interested in following Adr1ft, you can do so here.
