Aces of Thunder getting non-VR version after release

Aces of Thunder

Publisher and developer Gaijin Entertainment announced Aces of Thunder will get a non-virtual reality version after it launches.

Their new virtual reality spinoff set in the War Thunder universe is launching first for VR platforms on PC (via SteamVR) and PlayStation VR2, but will get a non-VR release on both PC and PS5 shortly after release. The game is launching in the coming months.

“Flat screen mode will allow us to bring more players to the game and let VR-equipped users prove the advantages of having a headset in really immersive flight simulation dogfights”, said Kirill Yudintsev, the creative director of Gaijin Entertainment in a press release. “While the game is already at the polishing stage, the developers are fully committed to release it only when it’s actually done.”

Here’s a brief blurb on the game, plus its most recent trailer:

Aces of Thunder is a flight combat simulation game focused on a selection of the most legendary World War I and World War II planes with meticulously recreated cockpits and unprecedented level of immersion, taking advantage of HOTAS controllers. A couple of dozen aircraft from five nations will be available instantly upon purchase. There will be a number of game modes, including PvP battles with evenly matched opponents, a set of challenging single player missions, and a combat scenario editor for those seeking to play by their own rules. Victory in Aces of Thunder will be determined by skill, precision, and mastery of the skies.
