Blue Box Games have apologized as technical issues have prevented the launch of the Abandoned Realtime Experience app.
As previously reported, the game tells the story of Jason Longfield. Awakening in a strange forest with no memory of how he got there, Jason learns he was kidnapped and must now escape with his life.
The game boasts realism, where every event will influence the player. For example, your aim will be worse if exhausted after sprinting, and weapons will be “realistically slow.” The DualSense controller will also provide immersion via adaptive triggers and 3D audio.
Details have been scant; but that has not stopped fans and news outlets theorizing the game is the rumored Silent Hill game, worked on by Hideo Kojima, or both. Some of the evidence is not entirely without merit [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6].
This has continued even after the developers insisting on multiple occasions that the game had nothing to do with Hideo Kojima, or Silent Hill [1, 2]. The fact Metal Gear Sold V: The Phantom Pain had used similar japes means that the denial has fallen on deaf ears.
Fans will have to wait a little longer to solve the mystery, as the Abandoned Realtime Experience was delayed due to technical issues. Even this delay has caused some fans to speculate if it is part of a greater reveal.
The Realtime Experience promised [1, 2, 3, 4] multiple trailers released over the course, gameplay demonstrations, and live events. While all the content will also be found online, YouTube and via the Blue Box Games website, it was recommended PlayStation 5 owners “experience all of it through the app for the best experience.”
However, Blue Box Games tweeted that a technical issue prevented the delivery of a patch. The issue has been ongoing as of this time of writing. At this time, the App only features the message “Check back soon…” on the screen [1, 2]. While technical difficulties are always of extreme annoyance, Blue Box Games can take comfort in how some are still believing it is all part of the show.
Abandoned is coming soon to PlayStation 5.
