Aaru’s Awakening is a platformer by the indie team at Lumenox Games, who are based out of Iceland.

The game has been up on Steam Greenlight, and is now confirmed for Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. The platformer has a very unique and responsive teleportation mechanic, and extremely well-crafted visuals. Featured above, you can watch the new trailer that was published for the game.

In the Playstation Blog post that confirmed the game’s arrival on PS3 and PS4, Lumenox’s marketing director Jóhann Ingi Guðjónsson revealed that Aaru’s Awakening began as a school project when the team was studying at the University of Reykjavik. He went on to say that the team was looking for an innovative and fresh mechanic in a platformer, and that they were inspired by the teleportation gun from Unreal Tournament.

In the game, you play as a creature who is able to catapult his own soul out of his physical body a sizeable distance ahead of himself, and then he physically teleports to that location. Players will also be able to perform other abilities like a double jump, or charging up the soul shot so you can line up that perfect shot.
