This week’s Famitsu has revealed (via Hachima Kikou) that another Utawarerumono game is in development.
The news comes via game producer Naoya Shimokawa, who said that after Utawarerumono: False Mask ships in September across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita, a new game is coming. Shimokawa revealed to Famitsu that Utawarerumono was originally planned as a three-part project:
“Four years ago we confirmed [the sequel] with the expected and no-nonsense title Utawarerumono 2 (which is now known as Utawarerumono: False Mask), but since our games are more akin to one story within a big Three Kingdoms-like tale, titling them simply 2 and 3 felt strange. Instead, we decided to give each game a subtitle.”
Shimokawa made a note in confirming that development on Utawarerumono: False Mask is complete, and that work had already begun on the final game. “After one and a half to two years after releasing the second game, we’ll definitely release our third game, Shimokawa said.
Finally, Aquaplus confirmed to Famitsu that a “Big Aquaplus Festival” from November 28th to the 29th, and the company will host an assortment of both artist and voice actors from Aquaplus, as well as their upcoming games.
