A new Trigun anime is coming next year

Trigun Stampede

Seemingly from nowhere, a new Trigun series from studio Orange has been announced for some time next year.

For those who don’t know, Trigun was a manga series which ran from 1995 to 2007 (if you treat Maximum and the original as one series). The original anime aired in the west on the Adult Swim programming block in the early 2000s and was animated by studio Madhouse. Madhouse is known for their work on classics like Cardcaptor Sakura, Gunslinger Girl, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, and much more.

The series follows Vash “The Stampede”, a ruthless outlaw and murderer; or at least that’s how the media portrays him. In truth, Vash is an affable and good-natured gunslinger who thanks to amnesia, can’t remember what caused the destruction of the city “July”, the massacre that’s the source of his $$60 Billion (that’s double dollar) bounty. Along the way, Vash meets people who are given the chance to see the real him and join him on his quest to understand the truth behind July’s destruction.

The new series is being worked on by studio Orange, a studio largely known for their use of 3D animation. Their past titles include Godzilla: Singular Point, Beastars, Land of the Lustrous and more.

The new series called Trigun Stampede is expected to premiere sometime in 2023 and will be streamed through the Crunchyroll streaming service in North America.
