A new, full-length movie adaptation based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s original set of The Witcher novels has been announced.

While details are currently scant, we know the movie is the first in a series of films, and will be releasing sometime in 2017. The production company behind the adaptation is headed by the producers behind The Mummy trilogy of films.

This is actually the second movie adaptation for The Witcher, with 2001’s The Hexer being the first. While that movie was only released in Polish, this new The Sean Daniel Company-headed production is coming to North America.

The new movie is also being created in part by Polish movie firm Platige Films, and is being directed by Oscar-nominated director Tomasz Baginski. Thania St. John is writing the script (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Grimm).

No actors have been confirmed for the movie at the time of publication.
