The team behind the acclaimed 1000xRESIST returned to Day of the Devs with a closer look at Prove You’re Human, their first-person narrative adventure that tackles artificial intelligence from a fascinating angle.
Rather than asking players to prove they are human, the game flips the concept on its head. Your goal is to convince an AI named Mesa that she isn’t.
The latest showcase focused on the developers themselves, with narrative designer Pinki Li and artist Daniel Beaulieu discussing how Mesa was created and the creative process behind her unique appearance and personality.
According to the team, bringing Mesa to life required close collaboration between writing, animation, programming, and visual design. The result is a character that feels unsettling, perfectly fitting a game centered around identity, perception, and self-awareness.
“Prove You’re Human asks players to split in two, to handle both physical and digital duties,” says Remy Siu, Founder of sunset visitor 斜陽過客. “This duality is echoed throughout the game, but also drives our approach to development. Our team is made up of artists in all their forms: dancers, musicians, filmmakers, and more. We explore them all as expressions of our own lived experiences to create a real human connection between our realities, and celebrate the differences bridging us together.”
Prove You’re Human is set to release on PC via Steam, though a release date hasn’t been revealed yet. Here’s a look from the showcase:
