915,000 PlayStation VR Units Have Been Sold

When Sony launched PlayStation VR back in October of last year, the company’s goal was to sell at least one million units in its first six months. Now, we’ve learned the company is most likely going to hit that milestone.

In an interview with the New York Times, Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Executive VP of Sony Corporation Andrew House confirmed the virtual reality headset has sold 915,000 units as of February 19th, roughly four months after its launch.

House revealed that both he and Sony were a bit too cautious, noting that the headset has been too scarce in lots of stores, especially in Japan – further corroborating reports the device has been quite hard to get. “You literally have people lining up outside stores when they know stock is being replenished,” said Mr. House.

The supply of PlayStation VR headsets will reportedly improve by April, right around the six-month target Sony is trying to hit. House also noted that Sony is looking to start offering PlayStation VR sometime this fall in Latin America.
