Another company has halted shipments to the USA because of the ongoing tariffs ordered by the Trump Administration. This time, it’s 8BitDo, the gaming accessory store most known for its Xbox and Nintendo Switch controls.
“Due to U.S. tariffs, only products from our U.S. warehouse are available for shipping to the United States,” the now-deleted statement on their store site reads. “China warehouse shipping is temporarily paused.” It remains unclear if this is still 8BitDo’s shipping policy, so we’ve reached out to the company for a comment.
Most of 8BitDo’s products are stored in China, which has been targeted with a 145% tariff by the Trump administration ever since April 9. China has retaliated with its own 84% tariffs on American products.
While certain companies like Apple were given exemptions by the Trump administration, those exemptions did not extend to anyone making game consoles or accessories.
8BitDo is just the latest in a line of corporations that has had to suspend deliveries to America due to the ongoing tariffs. Last week we covered Good Smile halting their plastic figure deliveries. Meanwhile, Nintendo had temporarily halted the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 in America in order to assess the impact of the tariffs.
This follows in the wake of a paper published by the Consumer Technology Association which predicted that the prices of game consoles will more than double by the end of the year.
