8-Bit Album Featuring Veteran Japanese Composers Gets Worldwide Release

Play-Asia has opened up pre-orders for the international version of 8Bit Music Power Book, a book and CD combo featuring interviews and compositions from veteran game composers.

The new release includes the likes of Takeaki Kunimoto (Star Soldier, Milon’s Secret Castle), Nobuyuki Shioda (Burai Fighter, Doki! Doki! Yūenchi: Crazy Land Daisakusen), Yuriko Keino (Xevius, Dig Dug), Omodaka (Namco Arcade Games, Ape Escape) and more.

Originally released in Japan as a homebrew Famicom cartridge (a literal, interactive game that featured visualizations and equalizers for each song), the release has since been expanded to include interviews from each storied composer, all of which having been translated into English. You can listen/view a sample of the songs above.

Here are some glamour shots of the release:

The 80-page book includes gorgeous pixel art by Hiroshi Ono, who had a hand in the Namco arcade pixel scene, as well as a thirteen track CD. You can find it here on Play-Asia, for $23.99.
