
While it’s been years since we heard rumblings of a 3D Shovel Knight game, Yacht Club Games has just announced it’s real and finally happening.
Teased at the very end of their new Yacht Club Games Presents showcase by founder and CEO Sean Velasco, the “brand new mainline” Shovel Knight game is in development, and apparently in 3D.
“We’re committed to crafting an experience that not only honors the Shovel Knight legacy, but also pioneers groundbreaking innovative gameplay mechanics,” Velasco said. “This isn’t just another sequel. It’s a bold new adventure that a lots shovel light into an entirely new dimension of gaming.”
He added, “Although we’re not quite ready to unveil everything just yet. Rest assured, this game will bring electrifying action, richer mechanics and all the timeless charm you expect from a Shovel Knight title.”
Further information wasn’t given but ahead of the tease, the Yacht Club Games logo was shown in a new form – and in glorious 3D, heavily suggesting the new Shovel Knight game will be 3D.
Lastly, a final tease came from Velasco that fans could actually deduce what the big new Shovel Knight game will focus on, thematically at least.
“For those of you eager to uncover what’s coming next, you might find subtle clues scattered throughout our previous games,” Velasco said. “Make sure to play Dig, Pocket Dungeon, and all the games in the Treasure Trove to notice the hidden details we’ve planted. Stay tuned! Shovelers the future of the blue burrower are bright.”
