343 Industries have hinted at “a new place and way to play” for Halo: The Master Chief Collection; leading to speculation of a port.
In a development update on the Halo Waypoint forums, 343 Industries discussed changes and updates coming to the game. The updates included FOV slider support for all Xbox One consoles, additional control customization, view model adjustments and more.
Almost as a throwaway comment, the post also mentioned “And maybe a new place and way to play.” This would suggest a port; with the game already being on Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
The new way to play is also interesting, and could suggest anything from a different control scheme, to new game modes. VGC reports 343 Industries had previously planned to have the collection playable via a custom games browser.
VGC also pointed out that Head of Xbox Phil Spencer had previously stated he would like to “make our Xbox Games Studios PC games available in multiple stores, including our own Microsoft Store on Windows, at their launch. We believe you should have choice in where you buy your PC games.”
While Halo: The Master Chief Collection was complete on Xbox One for some time, the various Halo games have been slowly added to the PC version [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. On Windows PC these games typically boast 4K UHD at 60+ FPS. Other PC native settings include customizable mouse and keyboard support, ultrawide support, FOV customization, and more.
