Kickstarter Backers Furious Over 2D Pixel Game Kologeon Resurfacing With New Visuals

Independent developer ChillCrow funded their unique, visually impressive 2D pixel game Kologeon back in July of last year.

There haven’t really been that many development updates for the game since then, however the game resurfaced (via Cliqist) with an entirely new visual style, and backers aren’t happy.

After working on a demo in the hopes of securing a publisher (like most other crowdfunded games, unfortunately), the developers have posted some new game art, and it looks completely different from the original pixel art sprites and footage shown in its Kickstarter campaign.

Here’s how the game originally looked:

The game originally featured a gorgeous 2D, pixel art style that naturally garnered lots of attention, both in the gaming community as well as other gaming enthusiasts websites.

Now backers are pretty confused, frustrated, and naturally upset.

Here’s how the game looks now:

The above changes were made with no prior notice to backers, and even further, come off as very suspicious considering their work on a demo specifically to shop the game around to publishers.

Kologeon was originally funded at $35,415, with the help of 1,268 backers. If the game is ever finished, it will release for PC, Mac, and Linux.
