Darkest Dungeon II launches October 26

Indie developer Red Hook Studios has announced Darkest Dungeon II launches October 26 via Early Access, on the Epic Games Store.

While Darkest Dungeon II launches October 26, the 2019-announced sequel to the cult classic psychological thriller dungeon RPG was originally set for a general 2021 release on PC, via the Epic Games Store.

The newly launched Epic Games Store page for the game allows you to wishlist the game, but only has a short blurb for the game:

The eagerly awaited follow-up to Red Hook’s smash hit gothic horror RPG! DDII will test your mettle and drive you to the brink of madness. Armor yourself with purpose and provision your party for the journey ahead. It will be arduous.

While the original game wasn’t that taxing for Windows PC or Linux users, hardware specifications also weren’t shared in the new store page.

As with most Epic Games Store exclusive releases, the response in the original announcement wasn’t positive and most fans of the original are seemingly skipping the initial – and possible full release (which will probably also be Epic Games Store exclusive) for the inevitable Steam release, potentially a year later.

The original Darkest Dungeon was originally released for PC back in January of 2016, followed by Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Linux, and iOS.
