Organizers of Tokyo Game Show Online 2021 have announced their schedule; including Square Enix, Xbox, Konami, and more.
The official website has released the schedule for the four day event. Starting at 6:00 p.m. JST on September 30th (2:00 a.m. PT, 5:00 a.m. ET), the event will include presentations regarding Dyson Sphere Program, Warriors of the Nile 2, The King of Fighters XV, It’s Mealtime, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, and Yurukill: the Calumniation Games.
There will also be presentations by SK Telecom, Xbox, Konami, Spike Chunsoft, D3 Publisher, and Capcom. Future days will also see The iDolM@aster Starlit Season, Warpath, Genshin Impact, and Gran Saga.
Additional presentations will include NTTe-Sports, Happinet, 505 Games, Square Enix, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Level 5, Sega and Atlus, Tencent Games, Lilith Games, GungHo Online Entertainment, Kowi Tecmo Games, DMM Games, S-Game, Arc System Works, 110 Industries, NCsoft, Ubisoft, AK Racing, Wright Flyer Studios, Fingger, the Japan Game Awards: 2021, and more.
Along with other panels including music performances and interviews, some slots in the schedule are yet to be declared.
Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida had previously hinted at the pressure to present something for Tokyo Game Show 2021 as deadlines loom, and joked about having nothing to show. “We definitely want to show it, but isn’t it better if when we do, you can play it right after?” He also stated he hated stringing fans along with small pieces of information.
Microsoft have also been attempting to gain greater control over the Japanese market; insisting Japan was their fasting growing install base in 2020, and even using Vtubers to advertise Xbox Game Pass. This was sparked by the dwindling appeal of Sony and PlayStation in Japan, despite their insistence they were still a Japanese company.
