Square Enix have released the final gameplay trailer for upcoming action RPG NEO: The World Ends with You.
As previously reported, players once again must take part in the Reaper’s Game to survive; controlling teenager Rindo as he explores Shibuya to discover the mystery behind the game. Fight the Noise, monsters created from people’s negative emotions, using special abilities and attacks granted by badge pins.
The final trailer paints a bleak picture, showing what seems to be the end of the world, or at least Shibuya. We also see gameplay, with players working together to pummel and juggle Noise. Bosses and other special enemies will put players to the test, pinning allies down, unleashing wide-hitting attacks, and even flooding the screen with distractions.
We also see the Social Network in action; as linking Rindo to other NPCs grants bonuses. While players can fight the noise in NPC’s minds, then can also imprint thoughts to help guide them from their troubles. Players can also make the lives of their party easier with stat-boosting food. Just watch the calories.
As with the first game, fashion is king. The clothes you equip not only boost your stats, but also come with their own abilities. You also need to have a minimum style score to even wear them. The tasks the Reapers set players will also create new gameplay to conquer them (even including trivia quizzes and spot-the-difference puzzles).
Finally, the trailer confirms a demo for the game will launch tomorrow, June 25th, on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
