Genshin Impact Update 1.6 Midsummer Island Adventure Trailer and Livestream

Genshin Impact Midsummer Island Adventure 1.6 update

MiHoYo have released the first details on Genshin Impact‘s upcoming 1.6 Midsummer Island Adventure update.

This summer-themed update will include a series of story quests and minigames involving Jean, Barbara, and Klee; based on a remote chain of islands. Players will be able to navigate the area in a ship called the Waverider, as they collect valuables, fight enemies on floating platforms, and explore the islands in an undoubtedly summer-themed update.

Some of these minigames include collecting Wave Splitter insignias and Echoing Conches to earn rewards. Other activities involve destroying enemy encampments, and a tennis minigame.

The 1.6 update also marks the first time that character skins will be added to the game, a feature that has been in miHoYo’s other gacha action-RPG, Honkai Impact 3rd, for a while now. Jean and Barbara will both receive summer-themed swimsuit skins. Jean’s skin will be a premium purchase, while Barbara’s can be acquired through completing the event’s various minigames.

The update will also feature a new Archon Quest leading up to the introduction of Inazuma, the game’s next region and the location of the next chapter of Genshin Impact‘s main storyline. The quest will introduce players to Kaedehara Kazuha, a character from Inazuma that will supposedly play a big role in the upcoming story quests in that region.

Kazuha is also the update’s new 5-star character, and is an Anemo sword-wielder. There will also be a new domain with boss encounters, and new features added to the housing system that was introduced in 1.5.

You can find the livestream and trailer detailing the new update below.
