Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest X Offline, set for a 2022 release in Japan.
Details on Dragon Quest X Offline are scant, including that platforms the now-offline version of the MMORPG will be released on. During the 35th anniversary livestream, it was described as easy-to-pick-up, play; and designed to be nostalgic and charming.
Dragon Quest X (the MMO) launched in 2012. The story there was the player being a mere orphan; who’s soul is flung into the body of one of the five tribes after an attack by the Lord of Hell. Now they must team up with other heroes to get their body back, and save their sister. It seems likely the Offline version will tell a simplified version of that tale.

In other news, Dragon Quest X announced the Version 6 expansion, set for a fall 2021 release in Japan.
