Insomniac Games have released a new gameplay trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart; highlighting the planets and exploration.

As previously reported, recurring villain Dr. Nefarious has obtained the Dimensionator; and in the ensuing battle becomes damaged. This begins to tear the fabric of reality apart; separating Ratchet and Clank. They are sent into a dimension where “Emperor Nefarious” succeeded in his goals, and female Lombax Rivet is part of the resistance.

As part of a series of “almost launch party” videos, Zurkon Jr. had previously highlighted the game’s weapons and traversal abilities. The new trailer focuses on planets & exploration; where we see Savali, the Scarstu Debris Field, Sargasso, Corson V, Torren IV, Ardolis, and Blizar Prime named.

Sargasso and Ardolis appeared previously in Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction; and prior trailers have indicated Rivet will visit alternate dimension versions of previous Ratchet & Clank worlds. Torren IV also appeared in Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time. 

We also see Ratchet’s new ability to wall-run, Rivit’s Speetle for fast-moving (seemingly a mini-game), and the return of rail grinding. The PlayStation Blog previously explained how the PlayStation 5’s SSD allows inter-planetary (and inter-dimensional) travel to be near-instant.
