Square Enix have released the opening movie of upcoming action RPG NEO: The World Ends with You as its own trailer.
As previously reported, players once again must take part in the Reaper’s Game to survive; controlling teenager Rindo as he explores Shibuya to discover the mystery behind the game. Fight the Noise, monsters created from people’s negative emotions, using special abilities and attacks granted by badge pins.
The opening movie shows off the main cast in action; including Rindo, Fret, and Nagi. We also see Sho Minamimoto, who was shown fighting alongside the party in a prior trailer.
He was one of the Reapers in the original The World Ends with You, though it is not clear if this is a prequel before he became a reaper, or he is fighting alongside the player for other reasons. A certain black-cat plushie throws up even more questions about how the two games will interconnect.
NEO: The World Ends with You launches July 27th on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Summer 2021 on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store).
