Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Yakuza developer is planning worldwide releases with future titles, news confirmed by Sega CCO Toshihiro Nagoshi in today’s JUDGMENT DAY livestream.
“I think taking all of your customers into consideration and nailing a global launch is the right way to go,” Nagoshi said in the livestream.
He added, “We’re determined to make every effort to support this for all our games moving forward.”
Now that we know the Yakuza developer is planning worldwide releases with their future games, it’s worth mentioning previous Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio titles were originally launched in Japan first and then translated with a western launch sometime afterwards.
Some games in the Yakuza series have yet to make a worldwide release like the historical spinoffs Yakuza spin-offs Yakuza: Ishin and Yakuza: Kenzan, however Sega previously teased they could finally get a western release due to Ghost of Tsushima’s popularity, or that the Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato really wants it to happen.
In related news, Sega announced Lost Judgment, a followup to their Yakuza detective-thriller spinoff Judgment, which stars protagonist Takayuki Yagami as played by Takuya Kimura. You can read more about that here in our other report from today.
