Earth Defense Force 2 and Earth Defense Force 2017 Switch Ports Announced

Earth Defense Force 2 and Earth Defense Force 2017 Switch Ports

Earth Defense Force 2 and Earth Defense Force 2017 Switch ports have been announced by D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot in the latest Famitsu magazine.

The Earth Defense Force 2 and Earth Defense Force 2017 Switch ports (via Famitsu, also Ryokutya2089, link 2) are launching first with Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space in Japan on July 15th and then with Earth Defense Force 2017sometime this fall.

Both Earth Defense Force 2 and Earth Defense Force 2017 Switch ports are based on the PS Vita versions, which themselves are remakes of the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 originals, respectively and have familiar specs to the PS Vita versions.

D3 Publisher Nobuyuki Okajima noted the developer wanted to start porting their older games beginning with the original 2003 game Monster Attack, however they gave up because it’s too technically difficult.

The most recent game to be released in the series is Earth Defense Force: World Brothers, which has a western launch set for May 27th. The next mainline game in the series, Earth Defense Force 6, has no release date but is supposed to launch “end of 2021” at the earliest, in Japan.
