Taro Yoko is working on a new download-only game with Square Enix, company producer Yosuke Saito confirmed during the first official NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… livestream.
While details are scant, Saito noted (via Games Jouhou) the game will be an indie-like download-only game – but a physical version might be released too. Taro Yoko will act as creative director and Yosuke Saito will act as producer on the new mystery game.
Saito noted that while Taro Yoko is working on a new download-only game, Yoko is totally bewildered by the game saying “It’s a game that I can’t explain. It’s a bit of a strange game, I’ve created something mysterious that I have no idea how to sell.”
He added, “It’s a game that’s somewhat off. I like it. I want people to play it, but I have no idea how to get them to play it.”
Saito noted the game is “nostalgic but with a new feel” and that other Square Enix staff complimented the game and said “it looks like it’s going to sell really well!”
Further details will be revealed soon – possibly within the next few days, and Yoko noted he’ll update the game once a month.
