Microsoft Announce Space Jam: A New Legacy Video Game Concept Contest

Space Jam: A New Legacy

Microsoft have announced a contest for pitching the concept of a Space Jam: A New Legacy video game.

As explained in the Instagram video by LeBron James and in a more formal announcement by Microsoft, a contest is being held to submit ideas for a video game based on the upcoming movie. Space Jam: A New Legacy is a sequel to the 1996 movie, and will see LeBron James and the Looney Tunes team up to defeat an evil AI in a basketball game.

Entrants (aged 14 or over) must submit an idea for an arcade-style video game before December 30th, choose a genre, create a key image, and describe the game in 500 words or less. The two winners will have their game made, and featured on Xbox Game Pass.

The winners will also get their name in the game, signed and authenticated LeBron James memorabilia, a personalized Xbox Series S gaming pack, the Nike Space Jam: A new Legacy VIP pack, and a private screening of the film.

You can find the contest’s announcement video below.

The contest is not only promoting the film, but also Microsoft’s own student coding workshops for games and apps inspired by the film. Those who complete the gaming workshop can also enter their game into the contest.

Space Jam: A New Legacy premieres Summer 2021.
