XSEED Games and Marvelous have announced that the recent title Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has sold over 500,000 copies since it launched earlier this month.
Marvelous announced the sales achievement in a recent blog post while lauding the game’s popularity. XSEED’s Executive Vice President Kenji Hosoi also praised the game’s “broad appeal” saying:
“We’ve known that Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin was a special game and would have broad appeal since our first meeting with Edelweiss…“
“The game has been in development for many years, and we’re beyond excited at the reception it has received globally from critics and consumers alike. Thank you to everyone who has accompanied Sakuna and her companions on their journey!”
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is a 2D action platformer that’s inseparable from its immersive rice growing mechanics. Players have to explore and hunt monsters through hostile stages, while also tending to a rice field at their home camp that affects Sakuna’s growth.
Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is available now on Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. You can read our review here (we recommend it!)
