Watch Dogs: Legion 560GB Source Code Reportedly Leaks After Potential Ubisoft “Data Security Incident”

Watch Dogs: Legion

The source code for Watch Dogs: Legion has reportedly leaked onto the internet, after a potential “data security incident” at Ubisoft.

DSOGaming reported that ransomware group Egregor leaked data it had obtained from internal servers of Crytek and Ubisoft in October of this year.

The leaked documents (which have yet to be verified as genuine) claim Crytek is working on several titles; including a battle royale called Crysis Next, Crysis VR, a new Ryse game, Robinson: The Journey 2, a mobile version of Hunt, and outsourcing Crysis Remastered to an external team.

Now, DSOGaming reports that the 560GB source code for Watch Dogs: Legion was among the leaked data, and has now surfaced online. As DSOGaming notes, this would allow modding, fan-made optimization, but also cracking any anti-piracy measures the game has. They also found little information on if the game used Denuvo DRM.

Editor’s Note: We shall not link to any website providing the source code (alleged or otherwise), nor will we tolerate it in our comments.

Speaking to Eurogamer, an Ubisoft spokesperson stated “We are aware of the group’s claim and are currently investigating a potential data security incident.” It also stands to reason that information on current future Ubisoft projects may have been obtained by Egregor.

Watch Dogs: Legion recently launched on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store, and UPlay), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia. It will also launch Holiday 2020 for PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. In earlier news, a randomly generated NPC has generated outcry and amusement, as it is a pediatrician who had dated their patient.

You can find an abridged rundown of the game (via the official website) below.
