Sea of Thieves October Content Update: Fate of the Damned Out Now

Sea of Thieves Fate of the Damned

Rare has recently patched their multiplayer game Sea of Thieves with the latest of its monthly free content updates. This month’s update “Fate of the Damned” focuses on the Fort of the Damned PvE encounter and the Halloween event Festival of the Damned.

A new set of patch notes for Sea of Thieves accompanied the monthly content update. New features include an event where “Shadows of Fate” haunt some islands. These foes are normally present only during the Fort of the Damned encounter and require a special flame to kill.

The new update also includes time-based “Fated Fortune” event challenges to unlock the Soulflame set of cosmetics; which can give pirates a ghostly appearance similar to the Flame of Fate brazier. Also new skeletal cosmetics for cats and dogs have been added to the Pirate Emporium; skeletal cosmetics for parrots and monkeys have already been released.

Other changes include bug fixes, and some quality of life changes such as the Flameheart PvE encounter not triggering at farther ranges. You can read the full patch notes here.

You can find the trailer for the Fate of the Damned content update below.

The Fate of the Damned update has arrived. Chat with characters to investigate missing Bilge Rat crews in Fate of the Damned Voyages, tackle Weekly Challenges, earn spooky Soulflame cosmetics, soak up some seasonal set dressing and more!

The new voyage where pirates face off against the Shadows of Fate isn’t confirmed to be a permanent addition at the time of publishing. Previous content updates have added permanent voyage types to give more variety to the game, such as the ghost ship battles in the Haunted Shores update, and vault explorations in the Vaults of the Ancients update.

Sea of Thieves is available for Windows PC (via the Microsoft Store, and Steam), and Xbox One. If you missed it, you can find our review here (we can’t recommend it enough!!)
