Square Enix has confirmed (via Games Jouhou) that initial development on Final Fantasy XVI is already finished.
The game’s initial development and scenario production are now complete, news confirmed via a new jobs page on the Square Enix careers website.
“Basic development and scenario production have already been completed, and we are continuing to create large-scale resources and build boss battles while expanding various development tools,” the website says. “In addition, most staff work remotely.”
While the most we’re getting for the game during the remainder of this year is a teaser website, the reveal trailer did include in-game footage to avoid fans speculating a release is years away.
Final Fantasy XVI is currently in development for PlayStation 5.
