D3 Publisher have announced the release date for bikini-babe zombie-killing hack and slasher Onee Chanbara Origin in the west.
As stated in the press release (via email) the game is developed by Tamsoft, and a HD remake of The Onechanbara and The Onechanbara 2. This includes a new art style and characters redesigned by the series designer Katsumi Enami, and “optimized storytelling.” The game originally launched in Japan in 2019.
The story follows zombie-hunting half-sisters Aya and Saki; both forced to put aside their fight to the death to work together. The pair seek their father, who left a message saying “Eva” was the one behind his wife’s death (which subsequently drove Saki mad in her quest to avenge her mother).
This hack and slash adventure will task players with completing objectives will slaying zombies. Players can also use the Cool Combination mechanic that rewards well-timed combos, but novice players can still string together combos regardless.
As their weapons become caked in blood, the sisters can also turn into demons for a short period via Berserk and Xstatic modes- gaining tremendous power at the cost of their life energy. Each zombie hunter will also have unique abilities.
The game will support English voice acting along with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles. The game has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
You can find the release date trailer, gameplay, and screenshots (the later two both via emailed press release) below.
