G4 Calls for Hosts, Adam Sessler Likely to Return

G4 Adam Sessler

G4 and former host Adam Sessler have called for submissions for hosts, and for fans to contact those they feel would be suitable for the role.

As previously reported, video gaming station G4 was announced to be returning in some form. G4TV was a television station that replaced TechTV; after G4 Media acquired controlling interest of the technology station TechTV. In 2004, TechTV was replaced with G4techTV, and finally simplified to just G4 in 2005.

G4’s lineup included original shows including tech news programs, and variety shows like Attack of the Show!, gameplay reviews in X-Play, and even dabbled with original animated content like the pixelated series Code Monkeys.

G4 was also originally hosted by Adam Sessler and Olivia Munn. It is unknown for certain if Munn might return to the show, after launching a Hollywood career after G4’s closure.

Now, G4 have called for hosts for their show; with the casting call made by Sessler. You can find that trailer below.

In the trailer and in the G4TV subreddit, users are asked to tag their favorite content creator on social media, or create their own 2 minute pitch under the hashtag #G4NeedsTalent. All presenters must be over 18 and a resident of the united states.

However, the Reddit post also notes “G4 is considering talent from everywhere, so there’s no guarantee anyone will be selected through this process. But as I always say, if you’re great, you’re great!”

The recent trailer calling for hosts may confirm Sessler’s return. While not confirmed, it is likely with his involvement of G4’s promotion here. Sessler was a somewhat controversial figure, especially around the time of consumer revolt GamerGate; condemning the movement as being purely harassing.

During E3 2013 he exhibited erratic behavior and slurred speech [1, 2, 3]. This lead to false rumors of drug abuse, such as cocaine. While most of this was made in mockery (especially after his condemnation of GamerGate), exhaustion in producing over 80 videos in four days was far more likely to be the cause.

During SGC 2013, Sessler discussed hate speech and trolling during a panel with YouTuber Jim Sterling. He condemned such behavior, and stated “Don’t even give me that first amendment nonsense. You have every right to say it, and I have every right to call you a fucking asshole and try to find your address and put it out there!!”

The clip went viral, discussing the concerns of someone using such justification to dox a person falsely accused of hate speech or trolling. During that panel, Sessler also condemned a men’s rights subreddit. He implied that those men involved with it were “the problem,” and they had “flipped” focus away from abuse against women. “Acknowledge it, go home and think about how shitty you are- end of story.”

Sessler also defended Feminist Frequency and controversial critic Anita Sarkeesian, agreeing with Sterling’s condemnation of their critics as overreacting and comparing her to X-Men villain Magneto.
