Limited Run Games have announced the preorder date for the physical version of Shantae on Nintendo Switch and Game Boy Color.
As previously reported, the game originally launched on Game Boy Color in 2002. It was a platformer Metroidvania where the titular Shantae had to save Sequin Land from the pirate Risky Boots.
The original physical Shantae sold poorly due to being at the end of the Game Boy Color’s life cycle, but become somewhat of a collector’s item. The game was ported digitally to Nintendo 3DS via the Virtual Console in 2013.
As part of Wayforward’s 30th anniversary, the game will return to Game Boy Color as a cartridge, and on Nintendo Switch. Shantae re-releases physically September 2020 on Game Boy Color, and Nintendo Switch.
Along with the Nintendo Switch and even Game Boy Color versions, there are also collector’s editions for both [1, 2]. It includes a full color interior case art and booklet, a SteelBook case, soundtrack, enamel pin, acrylic standee, commemorative coin, and reversible 18″ x 24″ poster.
The collector’s edition is $64.99 USD for Nintendo Switch, and $74.99 USD for Game Boy Color.
Pre-orders begin September 11th at 10 a.m.
In earlier news, Limited Run Games are also producing physical copies of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge – Director’s Cut on Nintendo Switch.
