Sega have announced the western release date for Ryu ga Gotoku Studio’s RPG Yakuza: Like a Dragon, along with a new gameplay trailer.
As stated in the press release (via email) the new gameplay trailer shows Ichiban Kasuga and his allies in Yokohama, Japan. Kasuga, Nanba, Saeko, and Adachi can swap between over 20 Job classes, changing their abilities in battle; or at least how Ichiban sees them.
“In what can only be described as a meta worldview,” the press release explains, “Ichiban envisions himself the lead character in an RPG and his ensuing skirmishes take on the form of turn-based battles.” This would explain the game’s departure from the action genre of the prior Yakuza games, despite this being Yakuza 7 in Japan.

RISE LIKE A DRAGON
Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, faces an 18-year prison sentence after taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is available in Japan, and launches November 13th in the west on Windows PC, Linux, and Mac (all via Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, November for Xbox Series X (when the console launches), and coming soon to PlayStation 5.
