Gearbox Publishing have revealed new gameplay for Godfall during PlayStation’s State of Play livestream.

As previously reported, the game is a “looter-slasher” action RPG. The world of Aperion is on the edge of ruin, and as the Valorian knights you are left to defend it.

You can equip Valorplates, legendary armor that can raise your powers to god-hood, and needed to ascend the elemental realms to stop the mad god Macros.

The gameplay walkthrough, captured entirely on PlayStation 5, focuses on the games combat. Along with emphasizing that all gear is obtained in game (not through micro-transactions), where players’ skill is as important as the gear they find and use.

Players are encouraged to be aggressive, using the games five weapon classes. These are longswords, dual blades, polearms, warhammers, and greatswords. Each weapon class has its own play-style with primary and secondary traits.

Dual Blades are the fastest weapons, that are ideal for single and unarmored targets. As players fight, build up charge. This can be used to increase damage for a short time. Players can also hurl their blades at foes and pulling them towards them.

Longswords are more balanced and simple. Players can lunge forward with two attacks; one that unleashes a flurry of slashes that cannot be interrupted, the other slashing all foes you pass. Players can also uppercut with their shield.

This shield can also parry foe’s attacks, hurl it at foes, unleash a wave, or petrify nearby foes with a slam. It is unclear if other weapon classes will have access to the shield.
