Dingodile Playable in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

Developer ToysForBob have revealed that Dingodile will be playable Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time during PlayStation’s State of Play livestream.

The new trailer re-iterates the plot; after the events of Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Dr. Neo Cortex and N. Tropy have escaped their dimension- causing damage to all of space-time. Now the pair seek to conquer all dimensions.

Starting on N. Sanity Beach, players travel across dimensions as Crash, Coco, and other characters in certain instances. New mechanics include wall running, rope swinging, rail grinding, and zip-lining. Players can also unlock cosmetic skins (none via microtransactions) by completing challenges and finding gems.

The Quantum Masks (protectors of space-time) also grant Crash and Coco new powers. These include changing gravity to walk on ceilings, slowing down time, or phasing objects into and out of existences. There is also one more mask yet to be revealed.

The plot also has a larger focus on the characters- with the likes of Coco (being “more prominent“) and Cortex (who can transform enemies into various platforms) contributing more to the story overall, or offer their own perspectives on events. While Cortex can only be played as in certain instances, so can another character- Dingodile.

Dingodile had retired from villainy and opened his own diner, which gets destroyed during the game. Dingodile uses a vacuum cleaner to suck up crates and enemies, or blast out air to launch objects or help him over over gaps. He can also use his giant tail to slap foes.

Finally, and in collaboration with Beenox, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time features inverted mode. Along with altering the perspective of the level, a visual filter can also change how a stage looks. In some levels, this even changes how the stage plays, such as being faster or slower.
