Tom Holland Confirms Live-Action Uncharted Movie Resumes Production, After Coronavirus Delay

Actor Tom Holland has confirmed the filming for the live-action Uncharted movie has resumed, after being halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The film has had numerous changes through its development; with changing directors and story directions [1, 2, 3, 4]. The film is now being directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad, Venom), with the plot taking place as a prequel before the games.

Tom Holland (Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Homes, Spies in Disguise) plays a young treasure hunter Nathan Drake, guided by Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sulivan. Antonio Banderas, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Tati Gabrielle are all set to star as well.

Now, Holland has confirmed production has resumed via the above Instagram photo. The comment of “day one” is still somewhat correct. Production was shut down in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, reportedly on the film’s first day of shooting.

Holland also shared an Instagram photo and video earlier in July (later reposted by fans to Twitter) showing his new hair style and the results of a new exercise regime for the film.

Will this film be able to outshine the fan film made two years prior starring Nathan Fillion? We will keep you informed as we learn more.

Uncharted premieres July 16th, 2021 in North America.
