Far Cry 6 Leaks, Reveals Giancarlo Esposito As Main Villain; May Launch February 18, 2021

Far Cry 6

A store listing for Far Cry 6 has leaked, revealing Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) will be playing the main villain.

There had been rumors earlier about Esposito appearing in Far Cry 6, after an interview where he announced he was involved with a “huge” video game.

Now, the Hong Kong PlayStation Store has leaked the games’ existence. Though we cannot find an archive at this time of writing, we have discovered screenshots of the store page while it was up via Twitter [1, 2].

Other websites have also been able to procure the game’s featured image on the store page at a higher resolution. The man in the center of the image, presumably Anton Castillo, is undoubtedly based on Esposito. Past Far Cry games have modeled their major characters to resemble their voice actors.

You can find the full rundown below.

Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, which his son Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM

YARA TORN APART
Fight against Anton’s troops in the largest Far Cry playground to date across jungles, beaches and Esperanza the capital city of Yara

GUERRILLA FIREPOWER

The game will offer online multiplayer for up to two players, optional in-game purchases, and a free upgrade to the digital PlayStation 5 version when available. Ore-ordering the game will earn you “a state-of-the-art Discos Locos weapon and a skin for Chorizo.”

The store page states Far Cry 6 will launch February 18th, 2021 on PlayStation 4. However we must emphasize this is the leaked release date for Hong Kong. Release dates may vary by region, and the game will likely come to other platforms as well.

Fans have also speculated about the boy, presumably Diego. Fans have noticed he has a scar on his right eyebrow identical to how Michael Mando appeared in the live action promotional material for Far Cry 3, playing his character Vaas. It should be noticed not all of the live action performances have this scar, and Vaas does not have that scar in-game.

While it could be a reach, Mando stated at the end of a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) in May “Thank you so much! Vaas is my spirit animal – having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character – makes me very happy. Who knows… maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :p Thank you for watching xo”

The official reveal is likely to come during the Ubisoft Forward conference on July 12th. We will keep you informed as we learn more.
