D3 Publisher and developer Sandlot have announced Earth Defense Force 6, launching 2021.

While the official website is scant on information, the Japanese PlayStation Blog has revealed more information. Editor’s Note: We will be using Google Translate for Translation throughout.

Set in 2027, three years after the events of Earth Defense Force 5, 90% of the human population is gone and society is on the verge of collapse. However, some of the mostly insectoid aliens have settled on earth and formed colonies, and are set to overrun what is left of humanity.

There is also talk about rebuilding and reconstruction, though it is not clear if the player will be involved in this; or if they will remain focused on saving mother Earth from any alien attack.

Earth Defense Force 6 launches 2021 in Japan. While no platforms were confirmed at this time, the use of PlayStation Blog indicates the game may at least be on PlayStation 4.
