PlayStation have announced they have postponed their PlayStation 5 event, due to the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.
The announcement came via the official Twitter account for the company. For those of you relying on machine translation, their message reads as follows.
“We have decided to postpone the PlayStation 5 event scheduled for June 4.
While we understand gamers worldwide are exicted to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.”
The statement comes amid the protests and subsequent riots across the US over the death of George Floyd.
Many other US companies and organizations have offered their support of Black Lives Matter at this time. As such, it is entirely possible the other presentations and showcases currently set for June could be cancelled.
We will keep you informed as we learn more.
