EA Sports have postponed the reveal trailer and details for Madden NFL 21, due to the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.

Announced back on May 7th, more information and the first look at the game was due to be revealed on June 1st. However, this presentation was cancelled on May 31st. The news came via the EA Madden NFL official Twitter account.

For those of you relying on machine translation, the statement was topped with “IT’S GAME TIME,” (EA Sports current slogan) with “time” crossed out. Their message reads as follows.

“Tomorrow, we had committed to celebrating Madden NFL 21 with you, but we’re not going to do that now.

We stand with our African American / Black community of friends, players, colleagues and partners. Our immediate attention is on action we can take to drive change against the unjust treatment and systemic bias that is plaguing the nation and our world.

We’ll find another time to talk football with you. Because this is bigger than a game, bigger than sports, and all of us need to stand together and commit to change.”

The statement comes amid the protests and subsequent riots across the US over the death of George Floyd.

Many other US companies and organizations have offered their support of Black Lives Matter at this time. As such, it is entirely possible the other presentations and showcases currently set for June could be cancelled.
